Benidorm represents the Marina Baixa at the Provincial Meeting of Employment Pacts
The meeting, chaired by the general director of LABORA, served to evaluate the development of the different territorial pacts
The Councilor for Employment and Local Promotion of Benidorm City Council, Mónica Gómez, has participated in the Provincial Meeting of Pacts for Employment of Alicante, representing the Pacte per l'Ocupació de la Marina Baixa (POMB), which presides over our city. At the meeting, which took place at LABORA Formación headquarters in Alicante, the councillor was accompanied by the POMB technical team, the vice president of this entity, and Manuel Andreu Rocamora, mayor of Sella.
The general director of Employment and Training of LABORA of the Generalitat Valenciana, Elías Amor Bravo, was in charge of leading this provincial meeting, where the development of the seven territorial pacts that operate in the province and how work is being done in each region was evaluated, after which a debate forum was also opened so that participants could express their doubts and concerns, as explained by Mónica Gómez.
Likewise, the councillor for Employment and Local Promotion has detailed that Benidorm and the entire Marina Baixa have been set as an example of work before the rest, as it is the territory where unemployment has been reduced the most after the creation of this territorial pact. Specifically, according to the data presented by LABORA, the number of unemployed people in this region in December 2021 was 15,472, while in December 2023 the figure was reduced to 9,944. That is, 5,528 fewer people without jobs, which represents a reduction of 35.7%, while the provincial average was 15.2%.
In addition to members and technicians of the seven territorial pacts, representatives of the CC OO and UGT unions, and the Business Confederation of the Valencian Community, CEV, were also present at the meeting.
The Pacte per l'Ocupació de la Marina Baixa was established on March 10, 2023, with the signature of the representatives of the 18 municipalities that make up this region, together with CC OO, UGT and CEV, establishing as the main lines of action of the project to improve the labour insertion of priority groups – young people, women and those over 45 years of age – and the promotion of specialized vocational training, as well as the business management capacity. It currently has more than twenty collaborating entities.
