In an imaginary Paleolithic, three hominids take refuge from the threat of wolves next to the skeletal remains of a mammoth. In their fight for survival, they decide to understand each other and collaborate. This is the plot around which 'Mamut' revolves, the play aimed at children and family audiences scheduled for this Saturday, March 2, starting at 6 p.m., in the Auditorium of the Culture Center and with which it begins the new Benidorm Cultural programming for March and April.
The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, explained that this performance, created by Markeliñe company, is a “show of an educational nature that aims to transmit to children a useful idea about the exciting and complex mechanisms of human existence”, and how its creators define it.
As in all cultural activities organized by the City Council, the councillor recalled that entry to attend this performance is free of charge, subject to the capacity of the Auditorium, which reaches 450 seats.
Likewise, Jaime Jesús Pérez has indicated that this will be the first of the activities in the Benidorm Cultural programming for March and April. The program also includes other cultural events related to music, theatre, art, poetry or cinema, as well as conferences or book presentations.
The cycle called 'Culture for Equality', organized jointly with the Department of Equality on the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, starts this Sunday, March 3, at 6 p.m., with the Concert 'Women's Day' by the L'Illa Musical Society at the Cultural Center Auditorium. On March 7, at 7 p.m., the 'Pioneras' concert conference led by Gema Martínez and María Eugenia Palomares, in the Assembly Hall. City hall. On March 11, at 7:30 p.m., the theatrical performance 'Que nos quiten lo bailao', by Diventia E., in the Assembly Hall of the City Council.
On March 9, the Concert of Hallazgo de la Virgen del Sufragio by Rondalla La Barqueta, in the church of San Jaime and Santa Ana at 8 p.m. On March 10, at 11:30 a.m., there will be the Concert Homenatge Mare de Déu del Sofratge by Unión Musical de Benidorm, within the 'XIX Campanya Música als Pobles', at Plaza Mayor. On March 23, at 7 p.m., there will be the Anniversary Concert of the Symphonic Band of the S.M. La Nova, in the Auditorium of the Cultural Center. And finally, on March 26, at 8 p.m., the Sacred Music Concert by Camerata Ars Cantica, in the church of San Jaime and Santa Ana.
Within the XII International Organ Festival, there will be two events during these two months of Benidorm Cultural: on March 22, with Miguel Bernal Ripoll (organ) and Julia Ruiz (soprano); and on April 26, with Walter d'Arcangelo (organ) and Gonzalo Devesa (oboe). In both cases, at 8 p.m.
On March 21, the City Hall Assembly Hall will host the conference 'The Cervera Squad after the Santiago de Cuba' combat. CN Juan Escrigas Rodríguez, promoted by the Frax Foundation.
Also included in this program are two book presentations: on March 26, 'Els noms dels pobles valencians', with a presentation and conference by Abel Soler; and on April 23, '24 Apriles', by Yolanda González and Adriana Rodríguez. Both will be at El Torrejó Municipal Center, at 7 p.m.
The Amateur Theater cycle will bring the performance of 'La Casa de Bernarda Alba', by Federico García Local, by TMT and Mascarat. It will be on April 5, in the Cultural Center Auditorium, at 8:30 p.m.
Within the International Poetry Festival, the City Hall Assembly Hall will host several poetic-musical recitals from April 9 to 12 by Liceo Poetico de Benidorm.
Likewise, from April 13 to 20, the eighth edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will be held, with short film screenings, workshops and other activities.
The Cycle of Great Recitals is also scheduled, which on April 25 will bring 'IAC Musical Spring' to the Town Hall Assembly Hall. 'Ensemble de Percusión' by Alicante Conservatory, at 7 p.m.
Finally, in the exhibitions section, there will be three different events: from March 1 to 15, the XXI School Drawing and Painting Contest “la Baqueta”, which can be visited at Casa del Fester; from March 5 to 22, 'Poesía Circular', with the plastic work by Basilisia Sánchez, at Espai d'Art of the City Council; and from April 3 to 20, '30 years drawing stories', by Paco Sáez, also at Espai d'Art of the City Council.
