A conference by Ángeles Valdivieso about 'Mujeres en la Bauhaus' marks the beginning of the 8-M commemorative events

The events to commemorate March 8, International Women's Day, began yesterday in Benidorm with a conference by Ángeles Valdivieso under the title 'Mujeres en la Bauhaus'. The event took place in the Assembly Hall of Casa del Fester, which was full, and was attended by the mayor of Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, and several members of the municipal corporation.

The talk was organized by the Agoraben association and had the collaboration of the Department of Equality to be included in the 8-M programming. Ángela Zaragozí made a presentation at the conference and explained that her department has organized an extensive program of events that will continue until March 12.

Subsequently, the lecturer Ángeles Valdivieso gave way to her presentation with an explanation of what the Bauhaus was from the date of its creation in 1919 until its disappearance in 1933 with the rise of the Nazi party to power in Germany and the importance of some women who They emerged from that school. Bauhaus was founded by the architect Walter Gropius and its main objective was the unification of the arts.

Some notable women who went through this school were the designer Anni Albers, the painter Marianne Brandt, the textile designer Friedl Dicker, the teacher Gertrud Grunow and the photographer Florence Henri, among others.

The programming of events on the occasion of 8-M will continue on Friday, March 1 with the XXIII Meeting of Women of the Marina Baixa, which is organized on an itinerant basis and which this year will take place at the Auditori de La Nucía. At this meeting there will be a snack and then, a monologue, for which each of the towns has received 50 invitations to distribute among interested women.

Later, on Sunday, March 3, the concert for Women's Day will be held by L'Illa de Benidorm Sociedad Musical, at 6 p.m., within the 'Culture for Equality' cycle organized jointly by both councils. It will be in the Auditorium of Benidorm Cultural Center.
