The new site will offer updated information on the plan review process and opens new channels for citizen participation
Benidorm launches the website for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan
Benidorm City Council has announced the launch of the official website for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) to provide up-to-date information on the plan's review process and, at the same time, open new channels for citizen participation, allowing residents to share their opinions on mobility in the municipality.
The new website, https://pmus-benidorm.es, “is conceived as an informative and participatory space where explanatory content about the scope of the SUMP, the different phases of the project, and the progress made throughout its development will be added,” explained Francis Muñoz, Councillor for Mobility.
Among the tools available for participation is an online mobility survey through which citizens can participate anonymously, answering questions about their daily mobility habits and their stated preferences regarding different mobility policies and measures that could be implemented in Benidorm in the future. The survey can be completed at the following link: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/S9MTanQ7Li
A suggestion box and a dedicated email address have also been set up on the SUMP website. “With this, we aim to allow citizens to directly share their opinions, proposals, and contributions related to mobility in Benidorm,” the councillor stated. These contributions can be sent to: pmusbenidorm@benidorm.org.
The councilor emphasized “the importance” of citizen participation in this initial phase of the SUMP, “since the information and contributions gathered will allow us to understand in greater detail how daily journeys occur in Benidorm and how citizens value potential actions related to mobility.” The data obtained will serve as the basis for defining proposals “aimed at improving quality of life, promoting more sustainable travel, increasing accessibility, and moving towards a more efficient and environmentally friendly mobility model in Benidorm.”
Muñoz also explained that the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) will be complemented in the coming months with “new information and participation initiatives aimed at involving all citizens and the various social and economic stakeholders in Benidorm.” With the launch of the website and the activation of the participation channels, Benidorm City Council “reinforces its commitment to an open, participatory process geared towards safer, more sustainable mobility adapted to the city's real needs,” concluded Francis Muñoz.
