Mayor Toni Pérez reiterates the City Council's "commitment" to this event, which "has its own identity and a loyal audience"
Benidorm is confident that 2026 Benidorm Fest will be ‘a spectacular edition
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, expressed his conviction today that the new edition of Benidorm Fest, scheduled for February 2026, will be a spectacular event. He reaffirmed Benidorm City Council's commitment to the festival and stated that they are continuing to work as diligently as they have since day one to achieve this goal.
Pérez asserted that the competition, which has been held in the city since 2022, has already developed its own identity and a loyal audience. Therefore, he believes that the decision by Spanish Radio and Television (RTVE) to withdraw from Eurovision next year should not affect its success.
"RTVE has indeed decided to withdraw from Eurovision in the 2026 edition, but that is a decision that rests solely with RTVE," he said. “We know that RTVE’s commitment to Benidorm Fest 2026, as well as that of the Generalitat and the Benidorm City Council, remains absolutely intact,” he stated.
The mayor also announced that, “in fact, we are redoubling all our efforts to make this a spectacular edition, where Spanish music will shine once again, which is the main objective of Benidorm Fest, and therefore work is already underway to ensure we have the best Benidorm Fest ever.” He added that the three parties involved in its organization “will continue to give their best to consolidate it as the great music festival in Spain, a position it was conceived, promoted, and has been working towards since its first edition.”
Finally, Toni Pérez affirmed that “Benidorm Fest is a great showcase, and with it, our music has a unique space for its development, promotion, and success.”
