Benidorm closes the events on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with a march

A citizen march, promoted by the Association of Housewives with the support of the Department of Equality, has closed the programming this Thursday on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is commemorated this November 25. The march, which ran along Plaza SSMM Reyes de España and Avenida de Europa, was attended, among others, by the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer; the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí; members of the Corporation and members of the Association of Housewives.

Before the start of the march, a manifesto was read in memory of all the murdered victims, women and minors, and a minute of silence was observed in their memory.

Under the slogan 'Benidorm against gender violence', the march has culminated at the foot of the statue of La Paz, where the Councilor for Equality and two representatives of the Housewives have deposited a crown with the names of all the women that throughout this year have been murdered by their partners or former partners. Specifically, so far in 2021, 24 women have been murdered due to gender violence, although this figure could increase since there are three more cases under investigation.
At the end of the march, the façade of the Town Hall, El Castell and the Tossal de la Cala have been illuminated in purple on the occasion of 25-N.

During four days, the activities for the International Day for the Elimination of Gender Violence have taken place, with talks-workshops, a theatrical representation and the opening of the exhibition of posters made by the students of the Artistic Bachelor of the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch.
