It is a plan that "cannot be considered static," Zaragozí pointed out, "it is alive." A "multidisciplinary work of many areas of the City Council", which has studied "the status of the workforce in terms of gender" and highlights the differences to "start working on solutions."
The Plan has analyzed the situation starting from the 843 people who make up the municipal workforce in 2018, and which as a whole shows a high masculinization percentage of 72% compared to the female, of 28%. The Plan highlights more equal figures in the higher job categories the situation is different in the lower ranks.
It was planned to present the Plan some time ago but "with the Covid-19 - Zaragozí has clarified - we have suffered a delay" due to "health limitations". This time has allowed, however, to advance in some of the initial proposals for which the mayor has added that "they have been changed" and "probably today we already have them resolved with respect to what was raised at the beginning of this walking".
Ángela Zaragozí has vindicated the "pioneering" work carried out by the City Council in matters of Equality and has given as an example Royal Decree 902/2020 on Equal Remuneration between Women and Men that comes into force today, April 14. A regulation that raises many of the aspects already developed by the Equality Plan for Benidorm Municipal Personnel. “We - the mayor has settled - have already been working on this type of plan. We are always at the forefront of gender equality ”.
