Thousands of people have remembered and paid tribute today, All Saints' Day, to their deceased with visits to the two cemeteries of Benidorm on a day in which the weather, despite some forecasts, has behaved as the date deserves

At 12:30 noon, the municipal cemetery of Sant Jaume hosted a mass offered by the priest of the church of San Francisco de Asís, Francisco Juan Galiana, where hundreds of neighbors participated. Among them, the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Cemeteries, Jaime Jesús Pérez; other members of the municipal corporation; and the regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate. The Eucharist was repeated in the afternoon, in Mare de Déu del Sofratge cemetery, on this occasion by the parish priest of the church of La Almudena, Pedro Crespo.

Since last Saturday, and until tomorrow, Thursday, November 2, the cemeteries have extended their opening hours from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the aim that all people who wish, can visit their loved ones. Furthermore, the City Council, in collaboration with the urban transport concessionaire company, Avanza, has reinforced the bus service to the Sant Jaume cemetery.

It is worth remembering that, on All Saints' Day, the City Council carried out general cleaning and painting renovation work in its facilities at Mare de Déu del Sofratge cemetery. Likewise, maintenance and pruning work has been carried out on the trees, and repairs to some pieces of deteriorated pavement on the premises.

As regards Sant Jaume, the number of niches and their perimeter have been increased, an expansion that will include the construction of a funeral home on the adjacent land. These improvements are in addition to those previously carried out that have provided the cemetery with a parking lot with capacity for more than 600 vehicles, more tree areas, and new lighting.
