Benidorm awards the footbridge that will link Els Tolls with the Palau, and the demolition of the teachers' houses of Leonor Canalejas school

The Local Government Board has awarded today definitively the construction of the footbridge that will link the neighborhood of Els Tolls with the Palau d'Esports l'Illa, and the demolition works of the old homes of teachers of the public school Leonor Canalejas.

The construction of the footbridge was awarded for 284,947.22 euros to the company Los Serranos, which was the company that presented the best offer by proposing a 31% increase in measurement. Councilor for Works and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, has indicated that the works will begin next week, and recalled that this action is included in the accounts for 2017 within the Participatory Budget.

De Zárate has stated that "this footbridge will connect the street Italia and the sports facilities of the Salt de l'Aigua saving the ravine and the European Community Avenue, creating a safe route between the Els Tolls neighborhood, the area of ​​the Palau d'Esports and the leisure facilities of the Sequia Mare.

As regards the houses of teachers of Leonor Canalejas school, the works of demolition have finally been awarded for 59,671.95 euros to José Savall Ronda SA, reducing the tender amount by about 15,000 euros.

The mayor and head of Education, Toni Pérez, has reported that "the City Council has already been coordinated with the Territorial Directorate of the Ministry of Education so that the demolition of blocks of housing are carried out as soon as the holidays start schoolchildren of Christmas ". Perez has clarified that the demolition project "will be finished in about ten days, so it will not affect the school's school activity."

On the other hand, the Local Government Board has also awarded, although on a provisional basis, the second phase of pedestrianization of Tomás Ortuño Street, in the section between La Garita and Los Limones streets. The commercial Sigma, which has offered an improvement of 29.51%, now has several days to formalize all the documentation and provide the guarantee to execute this work, valued at 728,827.72 euros.

The Councilor for Works and Mobility explained that "we are going to follow the model, design and qualities of the first phase that we finished earlier this year," and recalled that the project also includes leaving without traffic San Antonio street and the rearrangement of traffic throughout the area.
