A study of the Valencian Tourist Agency reveals that Valencia, Benidorm and Alicante lead the social networks of Valencian tourist destinations
The IX Barometer of social networks of tourist destinations in the Region of Valencia, prepared by the Valencian Tourism Agency, through the Valencian Institute of Tourist Technologies (Invat · tur) and which analyzes in depth the results of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, reveals that in the first half of 2017, València, Visit Benidorm and Alicante lead the main social networks used by the tourist destinations of the Region of Valencia.
The regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, stressed the importance of the Barometer and that tourist destinations "innovate and lead actions through social networks, where tourists take more and more decisions every day." "It is not only a question of having a presence, but of using it to analyze data and behavior, as well as to achieve the best position in an increasingly global and technological market."
The city of Valencia heads on Facebook the ranking of destinations (49,379 fans), followed by Peñíscola (45,093 fans). In third and fourth place are Visit Benidorm (38,982 fans) and Alicante, somewhat removed but above 33,700 fans. Torrevieja ascends to the fifth position from the novena and they exchange theirs the destinations of El Campello and Alcalà de Xivert - Alcossebre. It is necessary to emphasize that the official page of the City council of Benidorm in Facebook, is not collected in this barometer and at present reaches the (54.300 fans), being leader like information to the citizen.
The main tourist destination of the Comunitat Valenciana on Twitter is also the city of Valencia, thus maintaining the leadership with which closed 2016. The positive inertia, which reflects the number of followers on Twitter of tourist destinations, keeps unchanged the ranking since 2016. Only the exchange of positions between Visit Benidorm and Calpe is detected.
The ranking of tourist destinations in Instagram of the Comunitat Valenciana of the first half of 2017 is led by the city of Alicante, maintaining its closing position of 2016, followed by Visit Benidorm. Next it emphasizes the ascent of Valencia until the third position and Cullera in the fourth. Torrevieja and El Campello exchanged positions consolidating in the fifth and sixth position respectively.
Regarding tourist brands, the Costa Blanca leads Facebook and Instagram while the city of Valencia does it on Twitter.
In Facebook, Costa Blanca opens the year 2017 as it closed the previous one, being leader with a wide margin of advantage with respect to the rest of marks. The five brands accumulate a total of 255,820 Facebook fans in the first half of the year. The Twitter ranking of tourist brands in the first period of 2017 maintains the order it presented at the end of last year. The city of València appears leader, followed very closely by Costa Blanca and, somewhat more distanced, València Turisme.
