The municipal grant will be 100 euros for each month they stay abroad
Benidorm allocates 22,000 euros in grants for the international mobility of local students during the 2024/25 academic year
Benidorm City Council will give 22,000 euros to support the international mobility of local students who carry out stays through the Erasmus+ program or other official international mobility programs related to studies leading to the Bachelor's degree in the 2024/25 academic year. This has been approved by the Local Government Board (JGL) after a proposal made by the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno.
The mayor has indicated that with the approval of the bases that govern this call for aid, her department seeks to "collaborate and facilitate the exchange with other foreign institutions and, at the same time, reduce the expense that these programs cause to the families of the local beneficiaries.", in addition to contributing to creating a community of young and future well-qualified professionals, with open minds and international experience.”
Among the requirements established in the bases to be able to access the aid is being registered in Benidorm with uninterrupted seniority of one year, proving having been selected to participate in an international mobility program in the 2024/25 academic year, being up to date with the tax obligations with the City Council and present the application and required documentation within the deadline and manner established in the bases.
The money allocated for this purpose by the City Council amounts to 22,000 euros, without prejudice to the possibility of increasing this amount. The rules establish that a payment of 100 euros will be applied for each full month with a maximum limit of nine months. Said payment will be annual and will be made by bank transfer directly to each selected student once the effective completion of the period of stay at the destination university has been verified.
In the 2022/23 academic year 10,900 euros were allocated to this concept. Once the 2023/24 academic year ends, the aid corresponding to this academic year will begin to be paid.
Applications to obtain these aids must be completed according to the model that will appear on the website www.benidorm.org in the section 'Complementary aid for the international mobility of Benidorm students in the 2024/2025 academic year' of the Department of Education. Those interested must send the request by email to the address educacio@benidorm.org, attaching the necessary documentation in pdf format. The application may also be submitted in person at the Department from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or by post.
This call for aid has two shifts for submitting applications. Thus, the first shift will go from June 25 to July 12, 2024, and the second from November 27 to December 12, 2024.
The Councilor for Education has also stressed that "this municipal aid is fully compatible with others that the student may receive from any public administration or private entity to facilitate their stay during the program." In short, she concluded, "It is about contributing our grain of sand so that Benidorm students have more facilities and economic resources during the months they spend studying abroad."
