The deadline begins this Tuesday, July 1, and will continue throughout the month.
The Education Department is now open to applications for transport assistance for young people from Benidorm who study at university

The City Council subsidises up to 50% of the travel expenses incurred during this academic year by students who do not have access to community-based transport.
Benidorm City Council's Department of Education has opened today, July 1st, the application period for individual transportation grants for university students studying in the provinces of Alicante (except for the University of Alicante and the San Juan de la Miguel Hernández University Campus), Valencia, and Castellón, where there is no associated transportation service. The Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, explained that "these grants aim to alleviate the bus and train costs that these Benidorm university students incurred throughout the past academic year to travel to public higher education centers in the three provinces to pursue their undergraduate studies." She also noted that "students at the University of Alicante and the San Juan campus also have another line of grant, the UNIBUS, to reduce the bus fare provided and funded by the City Council itself." In this case, the grant is awarded through a different procedure. Moreno indicated that "as in previous academic years, the amount of the grant for this non-associative university transport is proportional to the student's expenditure on this item between October 2024 and June 2025, not exceeding 50% of the grant." For this call, the City Council has set aside a budget of 5,000 euros.
University students registered in Benidorm since at least January 1, 2024, and pursuing undergraduate studies at universities in the Valencian Community that do not have associative transport are eligible to apply for this grant. The Councillor for Education also indicated that this year, students enrolled in public Higher Artistic Education centres in the Valencian Community, where they are pursuing studies leading to a degree at the undergraduate level, have also been included as potential beneficiaries.
These grants are incompatible with grants from other public or private institutions for the same purpose and do not include students pursuing doctoral studies, specialisation studies, university-specific degrees, master's degrees, or postgraduate studies.
Applications for this grant must be submitted online through the City Council's Online Office at https://sede.benidorm.org, by selecting the appropriate procedure from the Catalogue of Services. The full terms and conditions of the call can be found on the City Council's Notice Board and at: https://benidorm.org/es/ayuntamiento/concejalias/educacion
The application period will be open until 11:59 p.m. on July 31. Regarding last year's call, Maite Moreno explained that "a total of 20 young university students applied for and received this municipal aid for non-associative transportation, adding to those who also receive discounts through the UNIBUS program."
