The action eliminates architectural barriers and prevents the accumulation of dirt
The department of Works is carrying out the work of filling tree pits in Gambo street with rubber from recycled tires. This operation leaves the fully trafficable surface, avoiding tripping hazards or accidents. The product is fully permeable; It does not affect the plants; and enables rainwater or irrigation easy access to the roots of the trees. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Perez, accompanied by the councillors of Commerce, Ana Pellicer, Works, José Ramón González de Zárate and Social Welfare, Angela Llorca, have overseen the completion of work and tested the permeability of the product. Toni Pérez explained that this action eliminates "architectural barriers and enable coexistence of people with disabilities". In addition, "this rubber prevent the accumulation of dirt and weed growth." These actions are included in the city budget this year and are carried out by operators of Technical Services. Similar actions had already carried out in Paseo de la Castellana, Acacias and Colonia Madrid.
