Toni Pérez reaffirms Benidorm's commitment "to continue improving water management in the city"

The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has emphasised today the city's commitment "to continue improving water management" and has highlighted Benidorm's position "as a national and international benchmark". Pérez made these statements after visiting the III L'Aigua Conference held today at IES Beatriu Fajardo in Mendoza, a visit in which he was accompanied by the Councillor for Education, Maite Moreno. The closing ceremony was also attended by the Director General of Vocational Training of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment, Marta Armendia.
Regarding the central theme of the day, water, Pérez reiterated after the closing the data that certifies the excellence in management in Benidorm, with 95% efficiency in distribution or the fact that in the last 25 years, with a population growth of 40% and with 26% more tourists “we have achieved a reduction in water consumption of more than 17%”.
In this sense, the mayor has referred to the “much work still to be done” in the processes of water reuse and has stressed the value of Hidraqua as a technological partner in the management of the Water Cycle.
The mayor has stressed that attending to this management structure and maintaining the level of efficiency and commitment, “specialized professional training” is essential. “If anything characterizes Vocational Training right now it is its dynamism, which allows it to adapt in an agile and precise way to a constantly changing labour market that offers the professionals that are in demand at any given time” he stated.
The mayor also highlighted that “the employability rate of Vocational Training students is growing continuously and it is already listed as the professional objective of many young people from the real conviction that it is the level of studies that employment demands and offers more opportunities”.
During this conference, issues such as the importance of professional guidance, key factors for the urban water sector, professional technical profiles demanded in the urban water cycle, new legislation on wastewater treatment, the Benidorm regenerated water network project or the application of artificial intelligence in the entire water cycle were addressed.
