The service, promoted by FAMPA Marina Baixa and the City Council, will be operational in nine Infant and Primary schools that will have supervision until 5pm

Benidorm will have a new edition of ‘Escuela de Tarde’ to facilitate work-life balance for families in June

12 May 2026
Benidorm tendrá una nueva edición de la ‘Escuela de Tarde’ para facilitar la conciliación de las familias en el mes de junio

The Marina Baixa Federation of Parents' Associations, in collaboration with the Benidorm City Council's Department of Education, has organised a new edition of the 'Afternoon School,' a service aimed at children aged 3 to 12. Its objective is to facilitate work-life balance for families during June, when school hours end at 1 p.m., and the school lunch program closes at 3 p.m. This was announced by the Councillor for Education, Maite Moreno, who explained that this 'Afternoon School' is "a service very similar to the 'Early Morning School,' which offers families the possibility of extending their children's stay at schools with supervised care between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., thus aligning the schedule with the rest of the school year."

Maite Moreno explained that, as with other activities and holiday schools offered in the city throughout the year, the service is run by the specialized company Trokoló and represents “an alternative to help many families balance work and family life. Due to work, family, or personal reasons, they cannot pick up their children before 5:00 p.m.,” which creates a problem for many households in June when summer hours are implemented in schools. “In this way,” the councilwoman added, “we make it easier for families to have their children stay at the school and be supervised by professionals, which translates into a safe environment that greatly simplifies life for families.”

The service will be offered in nine schools in the city that have a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and where there is also an early morning program or demand for an afternoon program. Specifically, at the following primary schools: CEIP Serra d’Aitana, Ausiàs March, Bautista Lledó, El Murtal, Els Tolls, La Cala, Puig Campana, Serra Gelada, and Vasco Núñez de Balboa.

The program will run from June 1st to June 19th, the last day of the school year, and will offer two pick-up times: the first from 3:50 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the second from 4:50 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Councillor for Education also announced that registration must be completed through the website www.trokolo.com/inscripcionbenidorm/ and that “the registration period for the service will be open until May 27th.”

The cost of this program during the month of June is €40 per child for families belonging to the Parents' Association (AMPA) and €55 for those who are not.

Finally, Maite Moreno stated that “the City Council continues to collaborate with FAMPA Marina Baixa on these types of initiatives, which provide a welcome respite for many families and help them organise and balance work and childcare as effectively as possible.” She added that, in addition to this “Afternoon School” and the “Early Morning Schools,” the city also offers similar programs during the summer, the Christmas and Easter school holidays, and other periods, with the aim of “being there for families and supporting them in their needs,” the councilwoman concluded.

Admission period

On the other hand, the Councillor for Education reminded everyone that last Thursday, May 7th, the Valencian Regional Government's Department of Education opened the admissions process for Early Childhood and Primary Education, as well as for Special Education centres and UECO specific units, for the 2026-2027 school year. Families interested in enrolling their children in these classrooms or in one of the city's thirteen public schools and one private-subsidised school have until May 18th to apply for a place.

Maite Moreno pointed out that, following recent trends, "the enrollment application will be submitted electronically through the website set up by the Department of Education, adminova.gva.es, where all procedures related to the process can be carried out."

According to the schedule established by the Regional Ministry of Education, once the enrollment application period ends on May 18, the provisional lists of admitted students for each school will be published on June 4. Appeals against these provisional lists can be submitted electronically until June 8, and the final lists will be published on June 18. From that day until June 29, families who choose to enrol online can do so; those who prefer to enrol in person will have from June 18 to July 2. Enrollment for those on the waiting list will take place from July 3 to 9.

Regarding admission to Secondary and Baccalaureate programs, the application period for a school place is from May 21 to June 1. The provisional lists for Secondary Education will be published on June 15, and the provisional lists for Baccalaureate on July 1. In both cases, appeals may be submitted within two days of the publication of the lists, while the final lists of admitted students will be published on July 2nd and 9th, respectively. Registration will then take place, either online and/or in person, and there will subsequently be a registration period for those on the waiting list.
