Students of Gardening of Benidorm VI Employment Workshop initiate the adaptation of the surroundings of Séquia Mare

02 May 2018
Los alumnos de Jardinería del Taller de Empleo Benidorm VI inician la adecuación del entorno de la Séquia Mare

The students of the specialty of 'Auxiliary activities of nurseries, gardens and garden centers' of Benidorm VI Employment Workshop have begun the work of adapting the environment of the future park of Séquia Mare. Specifically, this adaptation is being carried out in the area where the last remnants of Séquia Mare are located, which pass through public land and in which the City Council acted in April 2016 precisely to highlight these vestiges.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, together with the councilors of Employment and Urban Scene, Mª Jesús Pinto and José Ramón González de Zárate, visited the area today to learn the details of this action, which consists "mainly in the decoration, planting, cleaning and clearing "of the landscaped area and pine forest to integrate them in the landscape in the future park. A park, indicated the mayor, who "is taking steps", which will be "the most powerful of the urban fabric", and that "now is complemented with being an outdoor training center for these students".

Pérez recalled that the ten students in this specialty are unemployed and over 25 years who through theoretical and practical training will have "the opportunity to learn a trade and be trained to improve their employability in the future." At the moment, the students have already completed their first phase of training, which has allowed them to obtain the level 1 professional certificate.

Benidorm VI Employment Workshop has a second training modality, that of 'Local tourism promotion and visitor information', in which ten students also participate. The total cost of this project, which lasts twelve months, is 448,146.67 euros, of which the Servef contributes with 389,059.20 euros and the City Council the remaining 59,087.47 euros.
