Benidorm City Council invests 1,500,000 euros in the pedestrianisation of Tomás Ortuño and adjacent streets
This morning has taken place the second day of recordings of promotional spots of 'Benidorm fet a mà' campaign, organized by the Councils of Commerce and Employment with first-year students of the Degree in Marketing and Advertising of IES Pere Maria Orts i Bosch
The councilors Ana Pellicer (Commerce), and Mª Jesús Pinto (Employment), the students Laura Ortega and Antonio Marín, and municipal technicians visited the participating businesses on this second day in this important commercial route. Tour that has been carried out in good part by the effects on the sector of the recent conversion in pedestrian zone of Tomás Ortuño and adjacent streets.
Ana Pellicer recalled that two of the three phases of the planned works have already been carried out after which "the City Council will have invested more than one and a half million euros" in the pedestrianisation of Tomás Ortuño and the surrounding streets. Some works that have supposed "the increase of the accessibility, by means of the elimination of architectonic barriers, the improvement of the networks of sewerage, drinking water and the installation of trees". Pellicer stressed that the work to be carried out in the third phase will expand the pedestrianization to the streets Venus with Marte with performances in Carrascos, Júpiter, Pino and Arcos roads.
For her part, Mª Jesús Pinto recalled that the improvements that pedestrianisation imply will have a positive impact on the sector. "I'm sure the shops will work better and if shops work means that more jobs are being created," she concluded.
