From tomorrow the Espais d’Art Urbà Ponent, El Carrasco and Els Tolls will host an exhibition with illustrations by Fran Ferriz, Arly Jones, Paloma Marqués and Paloma Pérez

Illustration with ‘made in Alicante’ stamp, the new proposal of ‘Benidorm Expone’

04 November 2021
Ilustración con sello ‘made in Alicante’, la nueva propuesta de ‘Benidorm Expone’

Illustration made in Alicante by four artists from the province. That is the new proposal of 'Benidorm Expone' that from tomorrow and until next January 14 can be seen in the Espais d'Art Urbà Ponent, Els Tolls and El Carrasco, as the Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage has transferred today , Ana Pellicer, who has stressed that “with 'Benidorm Expone' we want to give visibility to the largest possible number of audiovisual artistic disciplines and therefore we now add illustration to previous proposals for photography, painting or urban art; a genre, in addition, very attractive and with which the young population feels very identified ”.
When designing 'Alicante Illustration' we have chosen “established artists with a consolidated and highly recognizable career such as Fran Ferriz and Arly Jones, and also emerging artists who are signing very relevant and personal works such as Paloma Marqués and Paloma Pérez ”.
Pellicer has detailed that "the work of Fran Ferriz will be exhibited in l’Espai d’Art Urbà Els Tolls." For 'Illustration Alicantina', the concept artist and designer from Villenero, “one of the best illustrators in the world”, has opted “for a series of illustrations made during the pandemic and in which his style is very recognizable, with clear influences from the comics and the underground "
El Carrasco will be the space of Arly Jones, who "with his classic and timeless style proposes for this exhibition a set of very fresh and summery illustrations related to Benidorm, all of them made by hand with digital finishing."
Paloma Marqués and Paloma Pérez will share l’Espai d’Art Urbà Ponent, which “will become a woman's stamp, not only because the works bear the signatures of two illustrators but because women also focus the theme of their proposals”. Thus, Marqués proposes a sentimental universe with simple compositions but with a forceful message; while Pérez presents her ‘Women in Struggle’, with which she ‘rescues’ some of the best-known female characters in history precisely because of their courage and determination.
The mayor has advanced that "between the end of November and the beginning of December there will be guided visits to each Espai d’Art Urbà". This round of visits will begin Fran Ferriz, on November 26 at 11.00. The following week, Friday, December 3, it will be the turn of Paloma Marqués and Paloma Pérez in Ponent; and Arly Jones will visit l’Espai d’Art Urbà El Carrasco on December 10th.
'Illustration alicantina' takes over from the photographic exhibition 'Made to last' by Valiente Verde, “an exhibition that has had an enormous welcome from the resident and tourist public and with which Benidorm has paid tribute and recognized the resistance and effort demonstrated by the productive fabric of Benidorm during the toughest moments of the pandemic ”.
Pellicer has advanced that "the programming of‘ Benidorm Expone 2022 ’is practically completed, which, like this year, will be quarterly”.
