Historical Heritage will distribute brochures on the El Tossal arqueological site in the tourist offices
The Department of Historical Heritage, directed by Ana Pellicer, will edit and distribute an information brochure on the 'castellum' of El Tossal de La Cala to bring this site from the 1st century BC to residents and tourists. This triptych will be available at the tourist offices of the city and, for the start of the next school year, will also be distributed in schools in Benidorm.
Pellicer explained that "in addition to all the historical contextualization of the site, the brochure contains a map with the rooms that made up this Roman fort, as well as a recreation of the 'castellum' by archaeologists from the University of Alicante (UA) on an image dated in 1943. " The triptych also refers to the archaeological interventions that have been made in the site, the excavation campaigns promoted by the Department of the UA.
The councilor of Historical Heritage recalled that "this work of dissemination is part of the work we are carrying out from the City Council to put this archeological site, which we have been recently consolidated, giving steps for its final musealization."
"Our intention is to continue investigating this 'castellum', which to date is the one that has provided more information to archaeologists on the operation and configuration of Roman forts in the time of the Sertorian wars," said Pellicer, who recalled that "in brief dates we are going to start the seventh excavation campaign in El Tossal".
