The final stretch of Limones street will be cut about 10 days to connect the new services of Tomás Ortuño and the asphalting of Carrasco street

29 March 2019
El tramo final de la calle Limones estará cortado unos 10 días para conectar los nuevos servicios de Tomás Ortuño y asfaltar la calle Carrasco

The section of Limones Street between Almendros and Carrasco will be cut off to traffic for approximately 10 days. As explained by the Councilor for Works and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, during those days it is going to be proceeded "the conection of the basic services of the stretch of Tomás Ortuño Street included in the third phase of pedestrianization and also to asphalt Carrasco Street "

De Zárate recalled that "this work has entered its final stage and will be completed for Easter", so that residents and tourists can enjoy this section that makes up the third phase of pedestrianization.

Meanwhile this cut lasts, the owners of the ford of Limones Street will be able to access it; while the buses must be diverted through Almendros until reaching Elche Park or through Ruzafa Street.

As already announced last week, the works will be extended to Venus Street, where the renewal of the drinking water network, expansion of one of the pavements, asphalting and improvement of road accessibility has been planned.

The work of this third part of Tomás Ortuño's pedestrianization culminates the integral renovation of the heart of the urban area of Benidorm, El Calvari, the neighborhood that concentrates some of the oldest streets of Benidorm and most of its traditional commerce. The works have been carried out step by step and in phases to reduce as much as possible the inconvenience generated by any work on public roads.

This third phase of pedestrianization has included works that have been developed both on the surface and in the subsoil. In addition to remodeling the sidewalks, road and urban scene, the entire waste water network of Tomás Ortuño has been renewed with a new pipeline and a new collector. The area has also been equipped with a well for the collection of rainwater and the collection network carried out in the previous pedestrianization phase has been extended. The execution of these works has also involved the renovation of the entire drinking water supply network.
