The spotlight moves today and tomorrow to Plaça del Castell starting at 8:30 p.m
The fifth edition of Les Ones dance festival kicks off with a showcase from local schools

A showcase by several local schools and the Benidorm Elementary Municipal Dance Conservatory brought contemporary dance to the streets yesterday at the opening of the fifth edition of the Les Ones Festival, which will offer free performances in Plaça del Castell until Saturday. The initiative, promoted by the Benidorm City Council's Department of Culture, was born with the idea of "promoting contemporary dance and bringing it to the streets, so that residents and tourists of all ages can enjoy it," and doing so, moreover, "in such emblematic places," said the councilor for the area, Jaime Jesús Pérez. This year's edition kicked off yesterday with a contemporary dance showcase offered by the María José Moya, Lope de Vega, and Rosa Martínez dance schools, and the Municipal Elementary Conservatory.
Dozens of people filled the space at Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España to watch this first Les Ones session live, which was also attended by the Councillor for Culture and members of the council, and in which around fifty dancers performed.
Attendees were able to enjoy the performances of the schools, which performed various dances to much applause from the audience. The day, which began in the morning at the Cultural Centre with a workshop led by "Los Informalls," concluded with a performance of "Aperitivo" by the same company in the Town Hall square, which drew applause from the audience.
Full Program
The program for this fifth edition continues today, Friday the 27th, with the workshop led by Clementine and Lisard at the Cultural Centre at 10:00 a.m. These workshops are precisely what sets Les Ones apart from other competitions, allowing local dancers to train at home with high-quality artists, discover new dynamics, and incorporate movements from different styles. In the afternoon, it will be the turn of Jacob Gómez's company, which will perform "Quema" at Plaça del Castell starting at 8:30 p.m. Following this performance, it will be Clementine and Lisard's "La Mecánica del Infortuni" performance.
The festival will conclude tomorrow, Saturday the 28th, with the show "Dummies" by the Wako Danza company at 8:30 p.m. Following the event, there will be a performance of "Al Punto" by "another well-established company, Otra Danza by Asun Noales."
