Benidorm celebrates the XXV Festival of Orchestras and String Ensembles of the Valencian Community this weekend
Next weekend, Benidorm will host the 25th Festival of Federations of Plucked String Orchestras and Rondallas of the Valencian Community. The festival will be held at the city's Cultural Centre as a special edition, designated as an Asset of Cultural Interest. The Regional Minister of Education, Culture, and Universities, Carmen Ortí, will announce the declaration of this status for all plucked string orchestras and rondallas in the Valencian Community.
The festival will take place in Rafael Domenech Pardo Auditorium at the Cultural Centre and will span two days. On Saturday, with the Regional Minister in attendance, the day will begin at 6:00 PM. It will feature performances by the Rondalla de Gata (from Gata de Gorgos) and the Plectrum Orchestra "El Micalet" from Lliria. On Sunday, May 10th, the event will begin at 11:00 AM with the Vicente Giménez Musical Group from Lliria and will conclude with La Barqueta String Orchestra from Benidorm.
The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, has invited “everyone who loves music to come to the Cultural Center to witness a high-quality event” and expressed his “great satisfaction” that the rondallas (traditional string ensembles) of the Valencian Community will receive the BIC (Asset of Cultural Interest) designation. “This recognition of these groups, which represent a deeply rooted tradition in our region and have numerous followers and devotees throughout our territory, is a great source of pride,” said Pérez.
