Benidorm renovates the underground containers on La Parra Street and increases its waste capacity

Benidorm City Council's Street Cleaning Department has completed the renovation and adaptation of underground containers planned for 2025, with the work carried out on La Parra Street. As Councillor Luis Navarro confirmed, this was the last planned intervention for this year.
The underground containers on this street were out of service, and the work consisted of removing the two old containers and eliminating the interior walls to use the pits and join them into a single, open pit, over which three new underground containers have been installed. Thus, as Navarro explained, "we have gone from having two double electro-hydraulic platforms for residual waste with a total of four 1,100-litre containers to having three individual containers for selective waste, whose boxes are configurable according to need for cardboard paper, light packaging, and/or glass."
Each of the new units has a capacity of 3,700 litres, significantly increasing waste reception capacity, almost tripling the previous maximum. The new containers are made of lighter materials, which is an added advantage, reducing weight and, therefore, reducing maintenance issues. Furthermore, this facility does not have an electro-hydraulic system.
Furthermore, the new selective collection containers have the advantage of having the drop box attached to the tank, which prevents waste from overflowing into the pit, thus minimising cleaning tasks. The safer units feature a safety platform that automatically rises when the unit is lifted for unloading, thus preventing potential falls.
