An exhibition to vindicate the eradication of violence against women

19 November 2019
Una exposición para reivindicar la erradicación de la violencia contra la mujer

This noon has been inaugurated in the Espai d'Art of Benidorm City Council the third edition of the exhibition 'Posters against gender violence', a sample made by the students of Art of the IES Pere Maria Orts and Bosch , at the proposal of the Department of Equality and Culture and framed within the program of activities organized by the session in commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated next Monday, November 25.

The councilors of Equality and Culture, Ángela Zaragozí and Jaime Jesús Pérez, participated in the presentation of the exhibition; the professor of Audiovisual Culture of the institute, Pau Rodrigo; and some of the young artists present. The sample consists of 15 posters that will be exhibited in the Espai d’Art until Friday 29 and that will subsequently travel to other educational centers of the city and the region.

Ángela Zaragozí has highlighted “the quality” of the works presented that “every year exceeds the previous one” and the effectiveness of the message addressed to young people. "It is," he said, "a very good tool for awareness, so that they know what violence is and that it must be denounced." Zaragozí has shown its satisfaction because "more and more young people turn to initiatives like this."

With ‘Posters against gender-based violence’, Equality intends that the message is not valid only on November 25. It is a claim that society must make “throughout the year” to “reach our goal that is zero violence,” Zaragozí has meant.

Finally, the mayor has specified that the young authors have been presented by the City Council with a voucher for the reproduction of the work they want, of identical characteristics and support to the exposed “so they have a permanent memory of what they have done during his studies of Bachelor of Art ”.

For his part, Pau Rodrigo recalled that for students, preparing the exhibition "is a great opportunity to start a course from a real proposal", in this case of the Department of Equality and Culture, and said that in the The poster was produced by 21 students "although 15 posters are displayed in the exhibition".
