The European Darts Championship brings together more than a thousand players from 20 countries in Benidorm

Benidorm once again hosts the European Darts Championship, which from June 11 to 17 will bring together more than a thousand players from 20 countries in the city and is organized by the European Darts Union (EDU).

A championship that has not been held for two years due to the health situation generated by Covid, is made up of about 50 different events depending on the modality and format of the game. The Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, and the organizers of the competition yesterday addressed the final details of this European Championship, which will take place at the Palau d'Esports l'Illa facilities.

The highlight of this European will be the Nations Cup, in which the national teams of each country will be measured and from which the champion of the next season will emerge. As in previous editions, there will be male, female and youth teams; and also, as a novelty, a darts competition for disabled people in wheelchairs will be held for the first time in Spain.

After two years without a European Championship, the organization expects "a certain euphoria among the players" who have arrived from other countries on the continent after "many long months without being able to compete in a major championship."

Although the first games will begin on Saturday the 11th, the Championship will officially open on Sunday with a parade of the different participating teams that will culminate in a brief ceremony in Óscar Esplá auditorium in Parque de l'Aigüera.
