Sand paths have been paved while municipal operators begin a "second round" of cleaning

Benidorm will test smart streetlights powered by solar panels and with motion control at La Huerta

30 January 2020
Benidorm testará en la Huerta farolas inteligentes alimentadas con placas solares y con control de movimiento

The residents of La Huerta de Benidorm have held a working session this morning with the Councilors for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer; and Works, Public Space and Street Cleaning, José Ramón González de Zárate, framed within the proximity campaign carried out by the City Council. Representatives of the Neighborhood Association and the Vice Presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario, also participated in the meeting and subsequent tour of the different areas of the neighborhood.

This is the second time that neighbors and councilors see their faces in . In the first, in August, a list of requests already attended by the City Council was put on the table. La Huerta is a neighborhood "very peculiar - recalls Ana Pellicer - its needs are not the same as those of the Old Town of the city", and have focused "on road cleaning, signage, lighting or security."

Pellicer has highlighted "the good harmony" with the neighbors, which shows that regular visits are "a very good work tool that serves to know first hand what the neighborhoods need." In this regard, González de Zárate recalled that “roads that were of sand have been paved”, covered potholes and all have been cleaned. He also noted that a "second round of cleaning has begun and today the municipal operators are on the way up to the cemetery."

The Councilor for Works has emphasized the neighborhood claim of the roundabout at the junction of the Estanquet, in process and "in a few months, when we have a new meeting in the neighborhood, it will be fully executed." Regarding lighting, González de Zárate has announced “a new lighting project”. The initiative will be tested with the installation of fifteen smart street lamps "powered by solar panels, which will allow us to save energy." An innovative initiative since they will allow “to carry out a movement control and raise, for example, the light intensity when people or a vehicle pass”.

Today, specific problems related to bus stops or the numbering of buildings have also been addressed. The residents of La Huerta will also present new proposals through the Neighborhood Council. Finally, Ana Pellicer has announced that next Friday, February 7, at 9:00 a.m., there will be a meeting with the association of Ciudad Jardín-Saladar to which she has invited “everyone who wants to join” to analyze the proceedings municipal and "address new proposals among all."
