The Engineering department has already prepared a specification that includes improvements of the fountains on Comunidad Europea and Emilio Romero Avenues, and an annual fund of 15,000 euros plus VAT
Public Space proposes maintaining eight public fountains with a single contract that will allow significant savings
The Department of Public Space, directed by José Ramón González de Zárate, proposes to create a new contract for the maintenance and conservation of ornamental fountains in Benidorm, which encompasses all public infrastructure of this type to achieve "significant economic savings." As explained by De Zárate, “the Benidorm City Council had a contract during the Adjustment Plan to keep the two fountains of Comunidad Europea avenue operational for only six months a year,” a minor contract that was renewed every year and that “supposed a annual cost of approximately 50,000 euros each ”. This means that “the savings from now on will be very important,” according to the councillor, since “in this new contract investments are contemplated and we also propose the maintenance of these two fountains and six others that exist in the city, or that they are under construction, for an annual amount of 144.404.22 euros, VAT included ”.
Specifically, the Municipal Engineering area, which has prepared the technical specifications, has included in the contract the ornamental fountains of Comunidad Europea avenue - the one located closest to the toll road and the one located at the confluence with Europa Avenue- ; from Elche Park; Venezuela avenues, Periodista Emilio Romero and Filipinas; and the one projected in Plaza de la Hispanidad, currently under construction.
De Zárate explained that “as the technicians point out, the characteristics and complexity of the installation of these fountains makes it essential to hire a company specialized in conservation, maintenance and exploitation activities of public fountains”, and more specifically in “maintenance of hydraulic, electrical, electromechanical equipment and water treatment installations ”.
At this point, the councillor recalled that "most of these fountains have geysers, suppliers, LED projectors, etc., which are controlled by automated systems that require specialized maintenance, including a repair service."
The councilor for Public Space stressed that “as we usually do in all the contracts we are bidding, we have included in the specifications a series of improvements to be assumed by the winning company, which in this case are valued at 93,000 euros more VAT ”. In this case, specific improvements have been specified for the two fountains of Comunidad Europea Avenue and Periodista Emilio Romero, in addition to an annual fund of 15,000 euros plus VAT. "The more improvements are assumed, the higher the bidders' score," he said.
Next Monday in the Internal Regime Information Commission the technical specifications will be informed.
