The Corporation will vote in the next plenary session to assume again the powers of the Regional Goverment to accelerate actions pending in schools and highschools of the city
Benidorm wants to benefit from the expansion of ‘Edificant Plan’ to carry out improvement works in 13 centers
Benidorm City Council wants to participate in the expansion of ‘Edificant Plan’ to carry out improvement works in 13 educational centers in the city pending execution by the Department of Education. For this reason, the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, will raise a motion to the next plenary session to request from the Department, within the framework of 'Edificant Plan' regulations, the delegation of powers in favor of the City Council to carry out "in the fastest way possible these actions and thus improve the infrastructures and educational spaces of Benidorm ”.
Moreno recalled that "the City Council has already accepted the first call for 'Edificant Plan' to build a new multipurpose building for the CEIP Leonor Canalejas and the Adult Training Center"; a work that the local administration has been in charge of and that will culminate shortly, greatly improving the endowments of both educational centers.
In view of this experience, "we believe that this formula of the delegation of powers in favor of the City Council is an opportunity to improve school infrastructures in Benidorm that are not being executed by the Ministry" and "thus speed up the updating of all schools and highschools in Benidorm ”.
Moreno explained that in addition to the four improvement actions indicated by the Ministry itself, through a letter from the Territorial Service of Educational Infrastructures last May, "we have added another 16 detected by the City Council and / or by schools centers or School Councils and which are also necessary in order to offer the educational community of Benidorm the best facilities ”. "We want all these improvements to be a reality as soon as possible and for this it is necessary that the City Council and the Regional Ministry collaborate as was done in the first 'Edificant Plan: the Regional Goverment providing the resources, and the local administration in charge of the execution of the works", has aggregate.
As the mayor has advanced, the City Council is going to request the support of the Municipal School Council for this new adhesion to ‘Edificant Plan’. A new adhesion that “if accepted by the Generalitat in the terms that we propose, would reach the CEIP's Aitana, Ausiàs March, El Murtal, Els Tolls, Gabriel Miró, Mestre Gaspar López, Miguel Hernández, Puig Campana, Serra Gelada and Vasco Nunez de Balboa; as well as the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch and Mediterránea, and the Official School of Languages ”
