25 workers have already joined the service since April 1st, while the rest will do so starting this Monday, the 14th
Benidorm strengthens its street cleaning and waste collection operations with 48 additional workers ahead of Easter

Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Street Cleaning and the cleaning and waste collection service concessionaire, FCC, will reinforce the city's cleaning and waste collection efforts in anticipation of the Easter holiday season. This reinforcement, which is customary at this time of year, will reach 48 new workers daily, distributed across different shifts. This was announced by the Councilor for the department, Luis Navarro, who specified that the first reinforcements, with a total of 25 permanent, temporary workers, joined the workforce on April 1st, while the rest will join starting this Monday, the 14th.
The Councilor for Street Cleaning explained that "with this service, we will be able to serve the large volume of tourists expected to arrive in Benidorm during these days, as well as the processions, without neglecting the rest of the neighbourhoods." And, as the councillor pointed out, "this is the time of year when, in fewer days, the largest number of tourists gather in our city, especially domestic tourists."
With these additional services and the incorporation of these reinforcements, the concessionaire will be able to cover "the maintenance of the city's most problematic areas, as these are the areas with the greatest concentration of people, both day and night," while cleaning will also be increased in all park-and-ride parking lots distributed throughout the city's neighbourhoods, Luis Navarro pointed out.
Likewise, cleaning will be increased at the entrances to the city, in addition to the cleaning and maintenance of all public parks, with particular emphasis on those in Séquia Mare and El Moralet.
The councilor specified that, in addition to the usual tasks such as manual street cleaning in the old town, on the beaches, or in the central streets with the highest concentration of tourists; cleaning with high-pressure water cleaners; In addition to the collection of urban solid waste and selective waste collection, this increase in staff will also allow for the reinforcement of other activities, such as clearing, with two additional crews; and cleaning waste bins, which will be joined by two more personnel.
Likewise, during the afternoon shift, more crews with sweepers, blowers, and pressure washers will be added to the usual service in the different neighborhoods. At night, these reinforcements will focus primarily on street cleaning and urban solid waste collection, increasing "the number of waste collection trucks available to better provide the service," the councillor stated.
Luis Navarro also called for public collaboration and requested that "if any neighbour wants to collaborate and is aware of any incident, they can call the Local Police, and they will immediately report it to Street Cleaning, the FCC on-duty shifts, or any other City Council department, and we will act as quickly as possible."
He also emphasized the importance of pet owners being aware that "picking up waste is the owners' obligation". He added that the City Council and the concessionaire have noticed "that in some neighbourhoods there is a lack of collaboration" in this regard, which is why he called for "everyone's involvement."
Finally, he noted that with this program designed for Easter, "we are prepared to reach all locations with guarantees for the influx of tourists that will arrive and that the feeling transmitted is positive and presents a good image."
