Benidorm renovará las infraestructuras de la Vía Emilio Ortuño y reordenará urbanística el área

Benidorm City Council is going to develop on Via Emilio Ortuño and its surroundings an action for the renovation of subsoil infrastructures and urban planning actions on the surface that will remodel the urban complex in that area of ​​connection with the city center.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, highlighted that it is about "the renewal of hydraulic infrastructures of Drinking Water and Sanitation networks and the implementation of the rainwater network in Vía Emilio Ortuño". A work, he has specified "that it was necessary to derive rainwater flows and avoid adverse effects that have already been partially solved with the works of Esperanto street collector, in the macro-action of Avenida del Mediterráneo".
The general project, of 2017, has specified the mayor "has been updated by the Municipal Technical Services and adapted to today's needs, including mobility issues and the new urban scene."
Pérez explained that "the tender was requested from Hidraqua, the winner of the drinking water and sanitation services, and the company has agreed to fully finance the action" that includes, in the main, the implementation of a new collector that will cross the subsoil of Avenida Alfonso Puchades, Fluixá Street, Vía Emilio Ortuño, Primavera, Otoño streets, SSMM los Reyes de España and Herrerías streets, including, the mayor specified, “paving works and replacement of services in the streets of Mar, Mirador, Verano , Finestrat, Arco Iris, Herrerías, Sol and Plaza de la Cruz ”, with lateral catchments.
With this action, said Toni Pérez, "the rainwater from Els Tolls neighborhood is definitely collected and channeled."
On Via Emilio Ortuño, Pérez said, "a 648-meter stretch will be acted upon, renovating underground conduits and generating a road with no sidewalks, with a bike lane, eliminating a parking line." In the subsoil, the drinking water network with a larger diameter and new valves is replaced, the existing hydrants are eliminated and a new network of hydrants is provided. The Sanitation network is also completely renewed and the rainwater network is implemented.
The performance will be spread over Fluixá street, which will vary its direction of traffic, and will reach Avenida Alfonso Puchades where, announced Toni Pérez, “an oblong roundabout now appears at the intersection with Avenida de Andalucía and Calle Fluixa with the intention of calm road traffic and reorder the use of spaces, creating a new pedestrian axis and an urban landmark in soft transport ”. At this point he indicated that there will be a reservation of spaces for the new functionalities that will include "support for pedestrians with comfort elements such as gardening and urban furniture."
In this specific action, Pérez said, "the perception of the projected space as a protection area is promoted by limiting speed." Traffic will continue to be ordered through traffic lights.
The planned actions include the adaptation of the Medium and Low voltage networks in the indicated work area, with Iberdrola planning the new lines. The electric lighting will have a new network with LED luminaires in new columns that "will reinforce the lighting on the sidewalk and will mean lower consumption and lower cost". This includes the new manholes, wiring and control panel.
One of the outstanding aspects of the action in the subsoil of Vía Emilio Ortuño, highlighted the mayor of Benidorm is that “it contemplates the new municipal reserve network for future use by service companies and that it will integrate those of the Smart City for fiber optics, Wifi and cameras ”, together with the Hidraqua water gauge network for“ the best efficiency in the provision of services and response to citizens ”.
The set of actions includes the irrigation network, "new in Vía Emilio Ortuño although it takes advantage of the existing connections," said the mayor, and contemplates more connections to the general network.
The road surfaces will all be on concrete slab and on it will be laid out a tread layer of bituminous agglomerate and pavements of precast concrete and polished agglomerate tile. The curbs are replaced with the execution of new scuppers.
The budget for the works of three million five hundred forty-eight thousand six hundred ninety-three euros and eighty-six euro cents. The processing of this action has already begun.
