Citizens' behaviour and the business community has been exemplary throughout the pandemic and no surprises are expected during the weekend

Benidorm, ready for the new scenario after the opening of the Region

13 May 2021
Benidorm, preparada para el nuevo escenario tras la apertura de la Comunitat

As it has been customarily available in the city, Benidorm Local Police has coordinated with the National Police Corps and the Civil Guard in the face of the new scenario that arises after the perimeter closure of the Valencian Community declined and the consequent opening of mobility with the rest of national territories. After the telematic meeting held yesterday with the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, and representatives of other municipalities in the region, the mayor, Toni Pérez, has called this morning a Local Security Board. The meeting was attended by, among others, the subdelegate of the Government in Alicante, Araceli Poblador; the Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez; the Chief Commissioner of the Benidorm CNP, Ceferino Serrano; the Chief Commissioner of the Local Police, Juan Fuertes; the Head of the Assigned Unit of the National Police in the Valencian Community; the Lieutenant Chief of the Civil Guard Traffic Detachment, Manuel Alberto Sánchez; and the spokespersons of the groups of the Corporation.

At the end of the Meeting, the Mayor stressed that “for days Benidorm has been preparing for the new situation that derives from the end of the perimeter closure and the new opening hours dictated by the Generalitat; and, as at all times since the beginning of the pandemic, in full coordination and collaboration with the National Police Corps and the Civil Guard ”.

"We are also prepared - he has deepened - to receive tourists from other parts of the Spanish geography, because Benidorm has been configured since the beginning of the pandemic as a safe destination"; and he added that "the city has services, also in terms of security, dimensioned well above the registered population and even for visitors we can be received these days."

The mayor has influenced “the exemplary behavior that citizens and the business fabric of Benidorm have had throughout the pandemic, which has always respedted scrupulously the health measures and guidelines in force at all times. For this reason, we do not expect surprises either during the weekend or later, because we trust that the exemplary behavior will continue to be the dominant trend ”.

In any case, the Local Police has planned a joint reinforcement device and extraordinary services. "The members of the Local Police will continue with their surveillance work, but mainly information and pedagogy," said Toni Pérez. Thus, "special attention will be paid to the areas of the promenades and beaches, and to compliance with the provisions regarding capacity, groups of people and the movement of vehicles and people after the curfew hours."
