Sociedad Musical L'Illa of Benidorm offers a monographic concert about Serra Gelada
The Societat Musical l'Illa de Benidorm will offer this Sunday, May 12, a concert entitled 'Serra Gelada: Música al voltant d'un abisme' which will revolve around this beautiful and unique natural space that stands in front of the coast between the municipalities of Benidorm and l'Alfàs del Pi. The mayor of Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, explained that the recital is part of the commemorative events of the 699th anniversary of the Carta Pobla and will take place in the Assembly Hall of the Benidorm City Council starting at 11:30 am.
Pérez recalled that “as in the vast majority of cultural activities that are programmed in the city, admission will be free of charge, subject to the capacity of the room”, after which he invited citizens to participate in this concert “ prepared with great care and attention by the Societat Musical L'Illa and it will surely leave no one indifferent.”
Led by the baton of Felip Lanuza Morales, the musicians from l'Illa will perform different pieces that, in one way or another, are related to Serra Gelada and its surroundings, while images of the mountains will be shown to complete the experience of performers and audience.
The program is made up of pieces such as the pasodoble 'L'entrà de la murta', by Salvador Giner Vidal; the band composition of 'Stonage', by Sara Galiana; the symphonic poem 'Paradise', by Óscar Navarro; 'Symphony number 9 of the New World', by Antonín Dvorak; 'Colorist Dance', by Rafael Mullor Grau; and the event will close with the interpretation of the Benidorm Anthem, composed by Joaquín Belda.
To offer the public a complete journey, in addition to music and images, the recital will also leave a space for words. Five experts in different subjects will intervene between works to publicize different aspects of Serra Gelada, such as geomorphology, history or toponymy, among others. The protagonists of these will be the philologist Francesc Xavier Llorca Ibi, with 'The sociocultural context of the Serra Gelada'; the geologist Juan Antonio Marco Molina, who will speak about 'The geomorphological scope of Serra Gelada'; the archaeologist Carolina Frías Castillejo, with 'The Bombarda tower and the stories of the Serra; José Santamaría, from the Natural Park's environmental education team, who will talk about the 'Serra Gelada: the Natural Park and its maritime environment'; and, finally, the photographer Jaume Fuster, who will offer his vision of the mountains with 'La Serra Gelada a ull de fotògraf'.
