The initiative aims to guide 4th year ESO and basic vocational training students about their educational, training and future job

Nearly 2,000 students from across the region participate in the 5th Benidorm Educational and Vocational Training Fair

10 May 2024
Cerca de 2.000 estudiantes de toda la comarca participan en la 5ª Fira Educativa y de Formación Profesional de Benidorm

Carrer de Pilota of Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm hosts throughout the day this Friday the 5th edition of the Benidorm Educational and Vocational Training Fair, the second of a regional nature, which is a success for yet another year of participants and students. The mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, visited this morning the different stands of the Fira, where he could talk with teachers, students and other participants about it and witness some of the exhibitions being carried out.

In addition to Toni Pérez, the councillors of Education and Youth, Maite Moreno and Ana Soliveres, also participated in the institutional visit; as well as councillors of Education from other neighbouring municipalities, such as La Vila Joiosa, l'Alfàs del Pi and Altea; in addition to other members of the Benidorm Municipal Corporation; the FP prospector from area 13; and other technicians in the educational area.

Throughout the morning, more than 1,500 4th year ESO and basic vocational training students from twelve educational centres in Benidorm and other towns in the Marina Baixa have passed through Carrer de Pilota del Palau to learn in detail about jobs within their reach, both in the region and outside it. It is expected that around 500 young people will also attend throughout the afternoon until the closing time of the fair, scheduled for 6 p.m.

Twelve educational centres that provide training cycles in the region participate in it, with a total of 17 professional families, as well as public, private or distance universities; the Official Language School; the CdT Domingo Devesa of Benidorm; the Civil Guard, the National Police Corps and the Local Police; Red Cross; aesthetic academies; employment and local development agencies; or the Youth Department of the Benidorm City Council, among others. All of them have displayed, throughout 22 stands, their entire training, education or work offer, to serve as a guide to young people who have to decide where to direct their future.

Toni Pérez recalled that "in 2018, from the Department of Education, we promoted this Educational Fair to reinforce the important task carried out by the Guidance departments of educational centres and to do so we generated a unique event and space where students could learn about all the job options and training in the region, even outside it, with a view to its most immediate future.”
The mayor also recalled that, for the second consecutive year, the Fair becomes “once again a regional event, with a vocation for continuity and in which our youngest population has a valuable resource when planning their future. educational and labour”. The mayor stressed that "Benidorm is once again a driving force for initiatives that benefit the entire region, thus sharing resources and generating synergies between municipalities."

For her part, the mayor of Education, Maite Moreno, highlighted that in this edition "one of the great novelties is the new Dual FP, a modality that is carried out on an alternating basis" between educational centres and companies, which allows students “adapt as much as possible” to the employment needs of the area.

The mayor added that this 5th Educational Fair continues this afternoon, from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., the fair is open to the general public.
