Plaza de SS MM Los Reyes de España in Benidorm has been chosen to present this morning the new ambulance acquired by the local Red Cross association and the provision of emergency material that is used according to needs and occasions.
An ambulance equipped with the necessary equipment and the latest technology, which has been explained in detail to the mayor, Toni Pérez, who attended the event accompanied by the councillors of Health and Beaches, Ana Pellicer and Mónica Gómez and together with the local president of the Red Cross, Amparo Martínez Oliván.
In addition to the new equipment, the mayor and the attendees have been able to learn the ins and outs of other vehicles and materials used by the NGO, such as the Mobile Operations Center, whose job is to manage all Red Cross resources in any service and carry out tasks coordination.
A logistics vehicle has also been shown, the equipment of which includes an all-terrain tent, briefcase and first aid kits with medication, thermal blankets for 50 people, care material for immigrants upon arrival, clothing, first aid kits, light box, tent inflatable, heat pump, oxygen therapy, thermal camera, immobilizing collars, etc. This vehicle, as they have explained, is usually used when immigrants arrive in boats that have been at sea for a long time and the conditions of their occupants are precarious. And also on the first attention at sporting or other events.
The mayor has also had the opportunity to learn the details of an all-terrain vehicle that is used in rescues, especially in the mountains, which is equipped with the necessary material (backpacks with medication, first aid, defibrillator, oxygen therapy...).
In today's presentation, the details of the vehicles used as Alert and First Aid Points have also been explained, which are usually disused ambulances that are transferred to a second occupation. The mayor highlighted the “good equipment in the Red Cross facilities” although he has wished them “not to have many performances because that will be a good sign.”
