The plenary session approved the budget of 2017 definitively after rejecting two allegations

The government of the PP and the groups Cs and CBM support the accounts and the report of Intervention that dismiss the claims

The municipal budget of Benidorm City Council for 2017 is definitely approved. This morning, in an extraordinary plenary session, the local government of the PP and the municipal groups Ciudadanos (Cs) and Ciudadanos por Benidorm (CBM) have voted in favor of dismissing the allegations presented to the budget by a private individual and by Círculo Podemos Benidorm, accoording to the report prepared by the Intervention area. With the rejection of these claims, the budget has been definitively approved. PSOE, Liberales de Benidorm (LiBE) and Compromís-Los Verdes groups have voted against, while the non-attached councilor has opted for abstention.

The Councilor for Finance, Lourdes Caselles, explained that from Círculo Podemos "we were asked to cancel the grant to Fundación Visit Benidorm", the mixed entity that is in charge of promoting the city and to which this year will contribute 500,000 euros. Caselles has indicated that, according to Intervention, this subsidy does not contravene the adjustment plan. In addition, the claim does not fulfill any of the three assumptions assessed by the Law to present allegations to the budget.

The plenary also rejected the amendments submitted by an individual requesting to increase the appropriation to prepare the Municipal Acoustic Plan and a specific item to make an assessment of municipal property. The technical report rejects the first because the plenary approved last month the realization of the Acoustic Plan; and the second, understanding that the Department of Heritage has its own resources and budgetary appropriations to meet the tasks entrusted to it.

In addition to the budget, the plenary also spoke on the proposal of the Board of Spokespersons to grant the 'Distinción Europa' 2017 to the director of Alicante-Elche airport, Santiago Martínez-Cava Arenas. The corporation has unanimously approved the delivery of this distinction, to be held tomorrow, May 9, at 12:00 in an institutional event on the occasion of the European Day in the Assembly Hall of the City Council.
