La Casa del Fester hosted the participatory budget assembly yesterday afternoon, an event that served to make the attendees aware of all the proposals received until yesterday through the channels that were open: the general register of the City Council, the e-mail, the municipal electronic headquarters, and the new digital platform.

In total, 130 proposals have reached the Department of Citizenship Participation that was analyzed yesterday and known in detail during the assembly. At the beginning of the meeting, councilor Ana Pellicer explained the two forms of voting established in the Self-Regulation of Participatory Budgets; the vote in person at the assembly itself once the proposals are known and the telematic vote through the digital platform benidorm.governalia.es. This last modality will be open to all registered citizens over 18 years of age until next November 28.

The vice president of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido, stressed that "every year there is more participation, so we make a very positive assessment from the Neighborhood Council." She also explained that each attendee or citizen could choose as many proposals as they wanted and clarified that their details can be found on the digital platform "where they are also listed for those who want to vote or consult them."

During the assembly, each of the 130 proposals was read, with a detailed explanation of some at the request of those present or because the proponent himself was in the assembly and it was he who detailed it and explained the reasons that had led him to to make the proposition. This number is higher than that of other exercises "and it was largely due to the implementation of the digital tool" indicated Pellicer.

Already yesterday several of the attendees left their votes in person at the end of the assembly, while from 00.00 today the deadline to do so electronically through the platform has been open until the 28th of this month.

After the voting process, a mixed commission will be formed made up of two members of the Neighborhood Council and two other attendees at the assembly, who have already expressed their desire to be part of it.

This commission will carry out a follow-up and assessment of the proposals together with the municipal technicians to determine which ones are feasible to be executed. The order will be established based on the number of votes obtained by each one.

The participatory budget will be endowed with at least 5% of the investment chapter of the municipal budget for the year 2023, an amount that in recent years has exceeded half a million euros.

Ana Pellicer, reiterated in the assembly that both this body and the participation through the platform "are a magnificent opportunity for our citizens to choose the city model they want" thanks to the fact that participatory budgets "are a very powerful tool for it ” and that has been running since 2016, which is why she returned to “encourage everyone to vote for the proposals that they consider to be the most appropriate and that best fit with Benidorm”.
