Over 5,000 people have used the accessible beach points during the first two months of the high season
More than 5,000 people have used the accessible beach points of Benidorm during June and July, the first of the high season, according to figures provided today by the councillor for the area, Mónica Gómez, who recalled that at "these times The three points that our beaches have are operational: one in Levante and two in Poniente, at the height of Parque de Elche and La Cala”.
Gómez has indicated that “Benidorm was a pioneer in the year 2000 in establishing accessible beach points to facilitate bathing for people with functional diversity or mobility problems; a service that is highly demanded and valued by users and that has become a benchmark at a national and international level, which we try to improve year after year with periodic actions in the facilities to gain comfort”.
The councillor recalled that "for us, it is an essential service of our beaches and that is why it is active throughout the year." "Although logically the number of users is potentially higher in high season -he added-, these accessible beach points receive users uninterruptedly throughout the year, with an influx that ranges from 400 users in the month of least use to more than 2,500 in high season”.
Specifically, during June, 2,387 people visited these accessible beach points. Of these, 1,078 made use of the Levante beach service; while 1,070 opted for the point of accessible beaches in Elche Park. The remaining 239 people used the point located on Poniente beach, at the height of Mont Benidorm avenue. As regards the month of July, the Parque de Elche point served 1,440 users; 759 for Levante and 480 for La Cala. Total. 2,679 people.
Gómez has stressed that "during the twelve months the accessible beach points of Levante and Parque de Elche are working, reinforcing the service from June 1 to September 30 with the point of La Cala".
So far in 2022, this service has been used by nearly 8,500 users.
The accessible beach points of Parque de Elche and Levante have the Universal Accessibility certificate UNE 170001-1 and UNE 170001-2. During the summer, each of the three points is assisted by three workers from the beach concession company, RA Benidorm.
