On Sunday, August 28, the long-awaited swim across the bay of Benidorm between the Island of Benidorm and the Mas Pas Beach is celebrated, which in 2022 reaches its twentieth edition and for which there is a maximum quota of 320 participants that was covered at within a few hours of opening registration on August 1st.

The already traditional test, which closes the competitive calendar for the month of August, is organized by the City Council's Department of Sports, with the collaboration of the departments of Citizen Security, Mobility and Beaches as well as Benidorm Yacht Club and the official timekeeper ChipLevante.

In this edition, the test recovers its traditional route and will depart again from l'Illa de Benidorm, with the participants having to cover the distance that separates the emblematic geographical landmark from the centre of the bay with Mal Pas beach, two nautical miles ( around 3.8 kilometres) whose record has been established, since 2008, at 36 minutes and 10'', a mark set by the open water swimmer Diego Noguera Montero.

The start will be given at 8.15 in the morning from the island and the swimmers must complete the test in a maximum time of two hours.

The collection of numbers, identification chips and caps will take place at the Benidorm Yacht Club facilities between 7 and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. The swimmers will then board the boat that will take them to the island and proceed to stand at the starting line. All swimmers must be provided with their safety and location buoy

There are eleven categories established with their respective prizes for the top three finishers in each of them: Absolute, Senior A (18-29 years old), Senior B (30-39 years old), Veterans A (40-44 years old), Veterans B (45-49 years old), Veterans C (50-54 years old), Veterans D (55-59 years old), Over 60 years old, Functional diversity, local swimmers and club with the largest number of participants.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m.
