Social Welfare assumes 100% of the assistance to fifty minors each month, and the Education department will grant part of the cost to families registered in Benidorm
The FAMPA Summer School reaches record participation with 276 students in July and 224 in August
The Summer School organized by FAMPA Marina Baixa, in close collaboration with the Departments of Education and Social Welfare, has reached record participation with 276 students enrolled during July and 224 in August. There has also been a maximum attendance at the dining service provided within the activity, with an average of 120 diners in July and close to a hundred in August, according to the mayor, Toni Pérez, who visited today the Summer School together with the councillors of Education and Social Welfare, Maite Moreno and Ángela Llorca.
The mayor has highlighted that "it is a record year meeting all the demand of the numerous families of Benidorm who increasingly trust this service that we promote from the City Council and with which we collaborate in its organization with the FAMPA Marina Baixa". "These attendance figures -he added- show the suitability of this educational initiative that facilitates conciliation to a good number of families in Benidorm, and in which the little ones learn while having fun and sharing experiences". On this occasion, the Summer School is being developed at the CEIP Ausiàs March, where the Summer Program of the Department of Youth is also being carried out.
As the mayor pointed out, "as in previous years, families have had the opportunity to register their sons and daughters, between 3 and 14 years old, for weeks, fortnights or for the whole month, thus adapting the Summer School to the maximum to the needs of each home”.
The municipal contribution to the Summer School has grown this year to 47,009 euros, an amount "which is intended to partially or fully cover the attendance of registered minors in Benidorm." Thus, more than half of that contribution, 25,109 euros, is used to pay for 100% of the assistance and the dining room service for students from families with significant economic difficulties. In total, "during July, there have been 48 boys and girls who have had this full scholarship and 40 in August".
Likewise, "100% of the assistance to students with functional diversity who attend the Special Education classroom of the Summer School during July and August" is also covered. The Department subsidizes this classroom with 6,000 euros, which is managed by Asmibe, which operates on the same schedule as the Summer School, which is attended by nine students between 11 and 19 years old and which has several monitors. Additionally this year, "given the increase in students with special needs who had requested to enrol in the Summer School, an integration classroom has been set up, attended by seven children between the ages of 3 and 9, assisted by several monitors".
Of the 31,109 euros that have been allocated to grant full assistance to all these students, 23,625.17 euros come from municipal funds, while the remaining 7,483.83 euros correspond to a grant from the Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies.
In addition to these students, the City Council discounts 50% of the cost of the Summer School to the rest of the minors who participate in this activity and who are registered in Benidorm, initially reserving 15,900 euros for it.
Added to these aids are those of the Department of Education, which also partially grants the rest of the minors who participate in this activity and who are registered in Benidorm, to whom part of the cost of the Summer School is discounted. For this purpose, 15,000 euros have been reserved. Shortly, families of registered minors will be informed of how and when they can request this compensation.
Finally, the councillor highlighted that the Summer School "joins the rest of the educational, social, training and sports resources set up by the City Council" during the summer period "to serve the smallest and youngest members of the household" and "facilitate social, work and family reconciliation for citizens of Benidorm".
