04 September 2017
La ‘Escola de Frikis’ abre la inscripción para su nueva edición

The project developed by the UMH promotes the concerns and aptitudes for technology and informatics in children between 6 and 12 years

Benidorm will count this school year 2017/2018 with a new edition of the 'School of Frikis', the educational project of Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche with which the City Council collaborates, directed to students of Primary, and that encourages and develops the concerns and aptitudes in the field of technology and computer science.

The pre-registration deadline will be open until next September 20 in the Department of Education, located on the third floor of the City Hall, while the registration will be formalized until the 25th on www.escoladefrikis.es. In this process of pre-registration and registration will have priority the students registered in Benidorm.

As in the first edition, classes will be held from October to May at José Llorca Linares social center. Students will be grouped into six levels, from 1st to 6th grade. Each level will have a weekly hour of class, with specific and personalized contents for that age group.

The last course a total of 54 students from 7 to 12 years went to the School of Frikis. During the six-month class, the children learned computer programming, which improved their problem-solving, logic, and creativity skills. In addition, the older students, the 6th grade of Primary, participated in a provincial contest of Projects Scratch creating their own video game. A contest in which Marc Gómez Martínez, one of the students of the 'School of Frikis' of Benidorm, was imposed.
