More than 600 schoolchildren from Benidorm will participate in environmental workshops over the next few weeks, organised by the Parks and Gardens Department in collaboration with the concessionaire Actúa and the Benidorm City Council's Education Department. The workshops aim to expand their knowledge of nature and environmental stewardship. They began this Monday and will take place in Foietes Park and Séquia Mare Park throughout this week and the first week of June, offering a comprehensive program that will allow participating students to learn about various aspects of flora, fauna, and biodiversity.

Benidorm City Council's Education Councillor participated today in one of these workshops, entitled "Parks Friendly to Pollinators," which was held in Séquia Mare Park and was aimed at first and fifth-grade students from the Gabriel Miró School.

Led by staff from the concessionary company, students learned about the different species of flowers and plants found in the city's parks, as well as the insect colonies that inhabit them, such as bees, ladybugs, grasshoppers, butterflies, water striders, and beetles, among others. They also learned about the environmental importance of many of these insects for pollination and pest control.

Furthermore, they were shown the function of the biodiversity islands being implemented in these green spaces throughout the municipality, as well as their purpose in raising awareness about the need to care for and protect all these species.

The Councillor for Education thanked the Actúa staff and the participating schools for their "commitment in making these workshops possible, which are so beneficial for schoolchildren, both for their fun and educational aspects."

Furthermore, Moreno noted that “throughout this week, in addition to students from other levels at CEIP Gabriel Miró, students from Oakwood School and CEIP Puig Campana will also be able to enjoy this activity about pollinating insects at the Séquia Mare, and from Costa Blanca and Vasco Núñez de Balboa at the Parc de Foietes,” while in June, the activity they will carry out it will be titled ‘The environment belongs to everyone’.
