Drone companies test their innovations in rescue and surveillance in Benidorm

Seven drone companies and institutions have tested today in Benidorm their latest innovations applied to the use of these aircraft for rescue activities, coastal surveillance, fire prevention, and extinction or border control, within the III National Meeting for UAS Non-EASA drone operators that yesterday and today is being held in the city.

These exhibitions of flight and anti-drone systems have been carried out at the heliport located in the surroundings of Terra Mítica and Terra Natura theme parks, and they have been attended, among others, by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez.

Among the exhibitions that attendees have been able to follow live, is that of a fire control and monitoring drone, equipped with a thermal camera and a system for detecting people and vehicles; or an aircraft that performs orbital flight to track designated targets.

At the end of the exhibitions, Toni Pérez stressed that "once again Benidorm focuses its attention on actions linked to innovation and technology and drones, in whose use for control, surveillance and rescue tasks on beaches we were pioneers at a level national".

The one in Benidorm was the first local police force to establish itself as an authorized operator for the handling of this type of device in 2016 and since then it has been a national benchmark in this matter. The Local Police has a specialized section, the Air Unit, which carries out surveillance, rescue, and cartography tasks, providing a pioneering service that has become essential.
