The Department considers that with this increase in staff, starting tomorrow, "we can attend to the large volume of tourists that come to the city"

Benidorm reinforces street cleaning and waste collection at Easter with 45 people

Refuerzo del servicio de limpieza en Semana Santa

Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Street Cleaning and in collaboration with the concession company FCC, will reinforce the cleaning and waste collection service during the Easter period. This reinforcement will translate from tomorrow, April 1, into an increase of 45 workers in the workforce in three work shifts with special emphasis on waste collection and street cleaning.

The Councilor for Street Cleaning, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that "with this service, we can attend to the large volume of tourists that arrive in Benidorm these days, as well as the processions, without neglecting the rest of the neighborhoods for this reason".

On the night shift, a solid urban waste collector will be increased with a staff of three operators, a driver, and two collection laborers.

There will also be two more flushing brigades with four workers, a tank with a driver, and a flushing laborer who will work in various parts of the city.

Likewise, the brigade of two manual washing operators will reinforce the work in the old town and in central streets where there is a greater concentration of tourists and processions. In this same night shift, four street cleaning laborers will reinforce the night routes "so that the beaches and the entire urban center appear clean before nine in the morning," said Councilor José Ramón González de Zárate.

As for the day shift, this will be reinforced with two pressurized water pressure washers "to reach all the squares and pedestrian streets of the city." The areas where there are more hotels will be reinforced "to have the streets clean as soon as possible."

Finally, the afternoon shift will also be reinforced with a collection collector for the selective collection points. There will also be a reinforcement in the door-to-door cardboard collection, another for the emptying of bins throughout the city, and a reinforcement in the review of sweeping in the center and beaches. On the other hand, a sweeper with operators will be in operation "for all the processions that are held in the city."

The mayor has also specified that "if a neighbor wants to collaborate and is aware of an incident, they can call the Local Police and they will immediately transfer the incident to Street Cleaning, the FCC guard shifts or any other department of the City Council".

In the councilor's opinion, with this device "we are prepared to reach all places with guarantees in the face of the influx of tourists that will come to us and that the feeling that is transmitted is positive and giving a good image."
