'Benidorm wins the "Sustainable City" award in the water cycle category for Dinapsis, the innovation center of Hidraqua
Benidorm has received this morning the national award 'Sustainable City' in the category of 'Water Cycle Management' for the launch of Dinapsis, the innovation center for sustainable territorial management that Hidraqua and the Suez group launched almost two years in the city.
This recognition, awarded annually by Forum Environmental Foundation, is granted to municipalities with more than 5,000 inhabitants where actions aimed at sustainability have been satisfactorily carried out over a period of two years, and which present evidence of the existence of a commitment to sustainable development. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has collected this recognition from the Secretary of State for the Environment, Hugo Morán, at an event held at Caixa Forum in Madrid.
The candidacy, presented by the City of Benidorm, in collaboration with Hidraqua, puts in value the management that is developed in this technological center, which was born with the aim of creating a space that would allow the sustainable management of the territory and improve the quality of life of citizens. It is also an operational center that has the most advanced tools for making appropriate decisions regarding investment and planning, which allows creating more resilient and sustainable cities; At the same time, it is an open and collaborative space where alliances are key to its growth.
In addition, Dinapsis has allowed us to increase the path to excellence in the management of such a valuable resource for this city, such as water. At the same time it has been a key lever in the achievement of the great challenges of Benidorm: to improve the quality of life of the people who live and visit this municipality, to set up a space for reflection and a forum of knowledge, while at the same time of course a tool to support Benidorm to become the first certified smart tourist destination in the world.
Since its opening, Dinapsis has received more than 160 groups interested in the center, has held 9 events for citizenship and has participated in 9 specialized forums. In addition, 25 innovation projects have already been developed in the center.
