Benidorm is ready for the start of the high season, which opens this weekend with the arrival of the first tourists of Easter. The councilman of Urban Scene and Street Cleaning, José Ramón González de Zárate, has indicated that "all services will be reinforced" during this holiday period, in which according to previsions there will be a tourist occupation superior to that of previous years.
De Zárate today announced the Holy Week arrangement for the water supply, cleaning, and care of parks and gardens, and has reported that from 10 to 24 April "no request will be authorized of occupation of public road "unless there is some urgency. In the same way, and in compliance with the municipal ordinance, the works of "implantation of natural gas and fiber optic" and those of improvement of the electric network have been paralyzed, while the public works of the Orts Llorca Avenue, Asturias street and roadworks "will be finished between tomorrow and next Tuesday, April 11".
In terms of water, it has already been proven that the city's pumping works in perfect conditions in case it is necessary to start them all in the next few days. In addition, the concessionaire company has reinforced its usual guard checkpoint and "in case there is a rupture of some potable or residual water pipes to act with maximum speed so that the users do not notice it".
With regard to parks and gardens, they are working these days to tune all the entrances and exits of the city and the garden areas, and the concessionaire company has also implemented a guard checkpoint that will be operational the next two week.
The councilman pointed out that the most important reinforcement is going to be given in the street cleaning and waste collection service, with the addition of another 40 'extra' staff to cover the city 24 hours between 12 and 18 April. In addition, it will be reinforced the flushing in the most conflictive areas with a tub.
For his part, the Councilor for Beaches and Public Security, Lorenzo Martínez, has specified in what sense the reinforcement of the cleaning and rescue of beaches will consist. Thus, both on Levante beach and on Poniente there will be three lifeguards, a relief station and an ambulance; and the three accessible beach spots will run during Easter from 10:30 am to 2:30 p.m. A total of 28 operators will be in charge of mechanical and manual cleaning in three different shifts.
