Benidorm projects two new Espais d'Art Urbà expanding its open-air museum
Benidorm City Council is working on the project for two new Espais d'Art Urbà, which will bring the number of exhibition spaces of this type in the city to nine. The Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, indicated that "in this way, we are expanding our open-air museum and we are doing it by taking this proposal to both ends of our first line: Paseo de Tamarindos in La Cala and the final stretch from Paseo de Levante in Rincón de Loix”.
Following the concept and design of the rest of Espais d'Art, the two in the project will also have backlit boxes. In the case of Tamarinos, the councillor advanced that it will be located "in the surroundings of the Mirador de la Música, a point where homage is paid to music and festivals and where the transition of our International Festival of the Song to the Benidorm Fest”.
Precisely, music will be the guiding thread of the first exhibition proposals of this new Espai d'Art in Tamarindos.
Pellicer transferred all this information coinciding with International Museum Day, in which she encouraged the public "to visit the exhibitions that are currently on display in our Museu Boca del Calvari, in the Espais d'Art Urbà and two emblematic points of the city such as El Castell and Paseo de Poniente”.
First, you can see the exhibition 'Guardianes del mar. La Torre de les Caletes', focused on the Benidorm watchtower and the material recovered during the consolidation project of this BIC, and 'Stone Guardians', on the fortifications of the province of Alicante.
The 'Invitations' of the photographer José Bravo, distributed by six of the seven Espais d'Art Urbà, are the second proposal for this International Museum Day; and the third, the monumental sculptures 'Silvia' and 'María' by Jaume Plensa in El Castell and those signed by Arne Quinze in his 'My Secret Garden' that mark out a section of Paseo de Poniente. In addition, on the tour of the promenade, you can also see the sculptures of the swans by the artist Hung Yi.
