The City Council has also recovered a plot of land in Ricardo Bayona Street that it has set up as a recreation area

Benidorm ends the actions to improve accessibility on Venezuela street

Benidorm City Council has completed the works that have been carried out in recent months on Avenida Venezuela to improve accessibility and pedestrian traffic in this area. It is a very busy road since there are three public centers on it; the Ausias March School, the Health Center, and the Center for Specialties.

The improvement actions began at the end of last January and consisted of increasing the size of the sidewalks to gain comfort and convenience for pedestrians and accessibility for people with functional diversity. In the same way, the entire street has been paved from the section with Honduras Street to the end of the road.

The councilors for Urban Scene and Citizenship Participation, José Ramón González de Zárate and Ana Pellicer, visited the area today within the framework of the 'A pie de Calle' campaign, a visit in which they have were accompanied by the vice-presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Zamora, and Francisco Martínez, as well as some residents and members of the neighborhood associations.

The delegation has verified that the works have finished "having complied one hundred percent with all the demands that the neighbors had transferred to us" said González de Zárate, who highlighted that "now there are better sidewalks, accessibility and a much-improved image" in an avenue that has three public facilities "to which not only the residents of Benidorm but also those of the region go."

The mayor has specified that these interventions have also led to the change of the luminaires with LED technology, remote management, and much more efficient consumption.

González de Zárate has indicated that these actions are complemented by other interventions carried out last year in the same area, which were included in the Participatory Budget. Among them, he has cited the roundabout at the confluence with Ricardo Bayona or the roundabout at the intersection of Nicaragua with Ricardo Bayona.

"All of this has led to much better traffic, more ease, more security, and the neighbors notice it, because it is a main entrance to the city from the west," added the mayor. In this sense, he has affirmed that "there are no traffic delays and that Beniardá Avenue is still closed due to underground works, but once it is open the improvement will be much more evident".

On the other hand, the delegation of 'A pie de Calle has also moved to a municipally owned plot that was occupied by private property. Once the land has been recovered, "we have cleaned it up to turn it into a recreation area that families with the little ones can take advantage of."

According to González de Zárate, "These are two good performances in this area that show that this government listens, acts, and improves the city."
