The City Council repeats the model of safe beaches of last summer, with the subdivision of the sandy areas
Benidorm prepares its beaches for the reactivation of mobility and tourist activity
Benidorm is already preparing its beaches in anticipation of the reactivation of mobility and tourist activity. Thus, this Friday the plenary will vote on the proposal of the mayor, Toni Pérez, of the services to be provided during the months of March and April and that "follows the organization and operation model that was implemented in June 2020 and that materialized with the project 'Benidorm Beach Safety', on the basis of guaranteeing capacity, physical distancing and health safety, as well as the enjoyment of all users, and that had a good result and reception ”.
Toni Pérez recalled that "last December the plenary agreed to determine in February the services to be provided on the beaches in March and April taking into account the evolution of the pandemic and, consequently, the restrictions that were in force at that time" .
Therefore, and in view of the reports prepared by the Beaches and Contracting departments, “it is necessary to adapt the configuration and services of our beaches to the probable favorable evolution of the pandemic, foreseeing a formula more in line with the increase in users of the beaches for the months of March and April, a period that includes two important holiday moments such as San José long weeked and Easter ”.
The organization proposal foresees, from March 1 to April 30, “the subdivision of the sandy areas, with spaces of 16 square meters (4x4 meters) to ensure physical distancing and personal observance of these measures; surveillance and rescue service consisting of a maximum of 19 personnel and which includes a boat and ambulance; as well as a reinforcement of cleaning of beaches and coves in morning and afternoon shifts complementing the usual night service ”. This manual cleaning service is expected to increase during the periods of greatest influx of users on the beaches, such as Easter.
The mayor has clarified that during this period "the rental service of sunbeds and umbrellas will be suspended, so that no fee will be paid for this concept to the concessionary company for the integral management of the beaches."
Toni Pérez has remarked that "the implementation of all these services is one more example that the city and the tourist destination are fully prepared for the enjoyment with the maximum guarantees of our beaches and even a possible reactivation of tourist activity, having always the sanitary security in the central axis of all the actions and strategies that are undertaken by the City council and from the own tourist sector ”.
