Three of the performances will be at Plaza de la Señoría and one at Oscar Esplá Amphitheater

'Benidorm Music Jazz' programs four free outdoor concerts in its fifth edition

07 May 2019
‘Benidorm Music Jazz’ programa cuatro conciertos gratuitos al aire libre en su quinta edición

The Councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer, has presented this morning the fifth edition of 'Benidorm Music Jazz', a cycle of four outdoor concerts to be held in May and June at Plaza de la Señoría and at Oscar Esplá Amphitheater. Admission to the concerts is completely free and will have bars of the Comissió de Festes and Associació de Penyes to offer refreshments and snacks at popular prices.

Pellicer stressed that "the offer of Jazz music adds to the varied cultural offer offered by Benidorm and becomes a tourist attraction more of our city." The mayor added that "these performances are offered for the enjoyment of our neighbors and tourists, and along with good music we can enjoy such beautiful and loved spaces as the Castle area and Park of l'Aigüera".

The cycle begins on Friday May 10 at Plaza de la Señoría with the concert by the Sevillian sextet 'O Sister', with his new work 'Stompin in Joy' in which it is approached the most original and primitive jazz. On Friday, May 17, on the same stage, it will be the turn of Celia Mur, one of the most prolific and versatile Spanish jazz singers, and Arturo Serra, self-taught Valencian percussionist.

In June the third date will take place on the 7th, at Oscar Esplá Amphitheater, with the 'Cotijazz Big Band', a band in which musicians from Benidorm will participate, like Pepa Antón on trumpet. The cycle closes on June 14 at the Plaza de la Señoría with 'Pepe Bao Trío', which brings a vision of jazz and flamenco from the inspiration of funk, soul and American music.

The poster announcing this fifth edition of 'Benidorm Music Jazz' has been designed by the students of the Bachelor of Arts of IES Pere María Orts of Benidorm, with the poster of Andrey Nahirnych being the one selected by all of his colleagues.
