Benidorm invests about 170,000 euros in works in educational centers during the Christmas holidays
Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Education and Public Space, has invested around 170,000 euros in improvement works in the city's educational centers, taking advantage of the Christmas school holidays. The mayor, Toni Pérez, together with the councilors of both departments, Maite Moreno and José Ramón González de Zárate, have verified today the progress and results of these works in the area of Els Tolls school complex.
The mayor explained that "in this year marked by the pandemic, many of these improvement actions are linked to the accesses and environments of schools" to "gain comfort" and when it comes to "maintaining physical distance when families accompany the students to the educational center ”.
Toni Pérez has indicated that "the bulk of the actions will be completed next Thursday, January 7, coinciding with the date established at the moment by the Ministry of Education for the resumption of face-to-face activity after Christmas holidays."
According to the data transferred by the mayor, the Department of Education has contracted improvement actions in 13 educational centers: ten Early Childhood Education schools, two municipal nursery schools and the 'Carmen García Santos' study center - UNED headquarters and the Official Language School.
"The total investment has been 97,682.98 euros", almost half have been allocated to the construction of the evacuation ramp of Les Fontanelles municipal nursery school. In addition, the pluvial channels of CEIP Serra Gelada have been repaired and a new condensing boiler has been purchased and installed at Vasco Núñez de Balboa school. Finally, leaks have been repaired in ‘les escoletes’ Les Fontanelles and El Tossalet; the study center and CEIP Bautista Lledó, La Cala, Leonor Canalejas, Miguel Hernández, Els Tolls, El Murtal, Ausiàs March, Aitana and Puig Campana.
On the other hand, "the municipal technical services have acted in three educational centers and their surroundings, based on public roads and accesses", which "has meant an investment only in materials of approximately 70,000 euros". Specifically, the patio and entrances to Aitana school have been fixed, showing damage due to the action of the tree roots; and the areas surrounding the access to CEIP Els Tolls and Les Fontanelles nursery school have been concreted on Municipi street. The third action has been developed along with the main access to CEIP Puig Campana, with the widening of sidewalks and the opening of a new entrance, the third in this area of access to the school.
